Graduating with his BBA in Accounting from Lamar University in 1972, Larry continued his education at St. Mary’s Law School in San Antonio and graduated with his Juris Doctor in 1975. While at St. Mary’s, he served as an Associate Editor for the St. Mary’s Law Journal.
He then pursued board certification by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and became a Board Certified Personal Injury Trial Law attorney in 1988. Larry has since maintained this status through ongoing education and recertification every five years—a total of seven certifications.
With a heart for those suffering from the loss associated with personal injury, Larry strives to help those in need while fighting for maximum legal recovery. His success and dedication over the course of his career has garnered him many honors, including a Martindale-Hubbell Rating of AV Preeminent and a listing as a Thomson Reuters’ Super Lawyer from 2008–present.
Wishing to pass on his wealth of experience to future generations, Larry accepted a position in 2007 at the University of Houston Victoria where he currently teaches as an Adjunct Professor at the School of Business Administration. His classes include Legal Environment of Business for undergraduate students and Legal Aspects of Health Care Administration for MBA graduate students. He has served on the Dean’s Business Advisory Council since 2008 and is also a member of the Academy of Legal Studies in Business which is a nationwide organization for business law professors.
On November 4, 2016 Larry was honored as one of Bay City ISD’s (BCISD) Distinguished Alumni. This designation is granted only to BCISD graduates whose actions and achievements have brought positive recognition to the school district and the Bay City community. As a graduate of Bay City High School (BCHS) Class of 1968, Larry was acknowledged for his professional, community, and educational accomplishments. While a student at BCHS, he was President of the Student Body, President of his Freshman and Junior class, and chosen as Mr. Bay City High School.
Larry is a married father-of-one who loves supercars and the occasional loop around the track. Also, as a member of the Houston Film Critics Society, he has also been influential in the Houston movie scene by providing moviegoers with over 1,000 film reviews from 1997–2018. His movie reviews appeared in many publications, and he was a regular film critic appearing on the Rio & Reyes Internet Radio Show stationed in San Antonio and RadioBrave.com in Houston.
Active in his Fort Bend County community, Larry has served on committees appointed by the Mayor and City Council of Sugar Land and is past-president of Commonwealth M.U.D. Larry also serves at Christ United Methodist Church in Sugar Land, volunteers at local non-profits, and has mentored local youth through his church, cub scouts, and as a sports coach.
